Bill Penney
Bill Penney was a member of the Belfast Print workshop from 1995 until 2022. He graduated in 1984 from The Ulster Polytechnic and went on to study Fine Art at the Slade, London in the early 1990’s, later becoming associate lecturer in Fine and Applied Art specialising in Printmaking at the University of Ulster. Penney retired from education after 25 years lecturing in Belfast.
Exhibiting both nationally and internationally, Penney represented the UK at the prestigious Ljubljana Print Biennale and Ireland at the Temple Bar International Print Exhibition in Dublin. He received many awards from The British Council and Arts Council throughout his career. Most recently Penney won first prize at “Impressions” International Biennale Galway.
Bill’s legacy in the print and art world will continue to live on through his work and he will remain an important part of the history of Belfast Print Workshop.
