Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, our classes offer a supportive and encouraging environment to explore your creativity.
This one-day workshop guides participants through creating a 2–3 layer screenprint combining hand-drawn elements with hand-cut stencil shapes, drawing inspiration from a pet (or any animal) photograph. Participants will learn a simple approach to translating a photo into layered graphic forms, preparing artwork in separate layers and exposing their screens. The session introduces setting up and using the press, along with basic registration methods for producing multi-layered designs. By the end of the workshop, each participant will produce a small run of pet-themed prints on paper. All materials provided; no prior experience needed. Runs 11am –4pm with a 45min lunch break.
Etching: Expanding the Process
Take your etching skills to the next level with Belfast Print Workshop.
This workshop is designed for those who have completed our introductory sessions or have basic experience with etching, and want to explore the technique in more depth. Karen will guide participants through advanced processes, white ground, and acrylic resist, helping you to develop your personal style and refine your technical skills.

Explore the expressive world of monoprinting in this intensive one-day workshop with Artist Ivan Frew. Discover how to create unique, painterly prints using one plate, two plates, or textured plates. Experiment with natural elements, tinted papers, oil and wax crayons, water-soluble oil paints, and collage to build layered, vibrant prints.
This workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to explore a more spontaneous and experimental side of printmaking.
All materials provided — no experience necessary.
Explore the beauty of drypoint printmaking with Chine Collé in this engaging one-day workshop. Perfect for beginners or for those looking to expand their creative printmaking skills, this session offers a friendly and supportive environment to learn and experiment.
Drypoint is an expressive intaglio printmaking technique known for its velvety lines, rich textures, and atmospheric effects. Throughout the day, you will:
· Create your own drypoint plate using a drypoint needle. Feel free to bring photos, sketches, or ideas to work from.
· Learn how to ink your plate and apply colour using the painterly à la poupée method.
· Add delicate layers of colour and texture using chine collé—employing coloured tissue paper to introduce colour into your prints.
· Print your artwork on an etching press to achieve professional-quality results.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a series of unique prints, along with the skills and confidence to continue exploring drypoint printmaking independently.

CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key – aka black) is the 4 colour separation used across colour printing in many forms. Printmaker Neil Kerr will guide participants through the process of creating CMYK screenprinted works, from the conceiving of imagery through to the printing of an edition of original works.
This course will feature in-depth instruction on preparing photographic and digital imagery for creating a 4 layer, CMYK or full colour screenprint. Neil Kerr is an artist and musician who regularly uses screenprinting to produce limited edition graphics for vinyl sleeves, prints, posters and clothing for his own projects as well as special commissions.
The weekend course will focus on image processing and registration using Photoshop as well as screen set-up, preparation and printing. Participants will be taught how to create, expose and develop their imagery onto screens, experimenting with different approaches in order to produce their own set of prints to take home.
Aimed at those who have never screenprinted before or those wishing to brush up on their skills, the class will cover a wide range of possible applications with participants completing a series of works on paper or textiles.
Having worked as both a screenprinter and musician for many years, Neil has applied this printing practice to the printing of vinyl covers, tour memorabilia screenprints, t-shirts and much more. This weekend course will provide all those taking part with the skills to complete works of a high industry standard and is a fantastic opportunity to get creative and get printing.

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to the beautiful and historic cyanotype process. Led by artist and printmaker Josephine McCormick, you’ll learn each stage of the technique through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and expert guidance.
Cyanotype is an early photographic process that produces striking blue prints. During the course, you’ll experiment with botanicals, stencils, flat objects, and high-contrast black-and-white photographs to create unique prints. All materials are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own botanicals, lace, flat jewellery, or other objects to personalise your work. We’ll also ask you to send two black-and-white photographic images in advance.
By the end of the day, you’ll take home a collection of stunning cyanotype prints.

Discover the art of still life drawing and screen printing in this hands-on workshop with Fionnuala McGowan.
You’ll develop your observational skills, experiment with composition, and build confidence in mark-making while creating original drawings inspired by a carefully arranged still life.

Join established printmaker and long-time member Ivan Frew on this weekend workshop in Collagraph Printing.
Collagraphs are the printed results from a ‘collage plate’. This course will focus on painterly printmaking techniques, perfect for creating expressive, textured images with a depth of colour and variety of mark-making.
you will learn how to create professional printmaking plates using safe, inexpensive and easily obtainable materials, printed with high quality printmaking inks and archival papers. Come prepared with your sketches and inspirational images, and recreate an original work or an edition of prints to give away as presents

Participants will work directly on the screen, using paint and squeegees to create one-of-a-kind prints. The mono print process eliminates the need for stencils or exposure units, making it ideal for those who want to experiment with direct, free-flowing mark-making. The beauty of mono printing lies in its unrepeatable nature—each print captures the texture of your brushstrokes and artistic expression, while translating them into smooth, flat prints that you couldn't achieve by painting directly onto paper. You'll have the option to explore layering and blocking out parts of the screen for added complexity, should you wish. By the end of the evening, you'll leave with a collection of unique prints, created at your own pace.
