- Belfast Print Workshop 30-42 Waring Street Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT1 2ED United Kingdom (map)
Discover the timeless art of woodcut printmaking and learn how to create stunning, textured prints with this upcoming class. Woodcut printmaking is an ancient relief print technique that involves carving a design into the surface of a softwood block. This technique has been used for centuries to create beautiful and intricate prints, and is still widely practiced today by artists and printmakers all over the world.
During this class, you'll have the opportunity to learn the principles of woodcut printmaking and create your own unique prints using the softwood woodcut method. You'll start by carving your design into the woodblock, using a variety of gouging and cutting tools to create texture and depth. Once your design is complete, you'll learn how to apply ink to the block and transfer the image onto paper using a press. The result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind print that showcases the beauty and texture of the woodcut design.
This is a popular class, so early booking is recommended to secure your spot. The class will take place on Wednesday 14th June 2023 and Wednesday 21st June 2023 from 6pm to 9pm, giving you plenty of time to master the techniques and create your own unique prints.
