Woodcut printmaking is an ancient relief print technique that involves carving a design into the surface of a softwood block. During this class, you'll have the opportunity to learn the principles of woodcut printmaking and create your own unique prints using the softwood woodcut method. You'll start by carving your design into the woodblock, using a variety of gouging and cutting tools to create texture and depth. Once your design is complete, you'll learn how to apply ink to the block and transfer the image onto paper using a press. The result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind print that showcases the beauty and texture of the woodcut design.
