RE/COLLECTION by Alice McTear - Exhibition May 2026

RE/COLLECTION is an exhibition that delves into the world of the everyday, exploring how the objects we interact with throughout our lives are deeply connected to memory, nostalgia, and our relationship with the world around us. It considers how objects can unearth memories, evoke emotions, and carry personal and collective narratives.

The “collection” also reveals the perspective of an autistic individual, where the everyday can sometimes feel alienating or confusing, yet equally offers comfort and calm through routine, pattern, and familiarity. For many autistic people, visual language can be more accessible and meaningful than the spoken word, shaping how experiences are processed and understood.

Alice’s work is rooted in exploration and experimentation. Beginning with an etching plate, she develops varied editions of each print, playing with colour, composition, and pattern so that no two are the same. Each piece follows a journey of discovery and creative play. The prints communicate with one another—information is carried across them, intertwining and evolving.

In this exhibition, multiple variations of each print are displayed, allowing viewers to engage with the contrasts, repetitions, and subtle shifts within Alice’s work, and to experience the depth of her experimental process.
