Evening Class (2.5 hours)
Thursday 19th January, 6.00— 8.30pm
Using paper stencils you will learn the art of stencil cutting, and making prints on textiles.
This class will give you a full breadth of knowledge on how to print an image through a silk screen onto a piece of textile for later use as a craft piece or as a hanging/frameable fine art print.
In this new and improved intensive beginner class you will learn about screenprinting on textiles. You will produce your own hand cut paper stencil design and print it on textiles. René will explain how textile printmaking varies from paper printmaking, she will guide you through a step by step process in designing, printing and finishing your own textile print. All materials will be supplied.
You will leave with a handprinted piece and a handprinted zine to guide you through the process, and a list on where to source all the materials and equipment should you want to try the technique again at home.
René has been printing textiles and selling her work throughout Ireland and beyond for over 15 years.
René is a member of Visual Artists Ireland and currently a Design Ireland maker with the Design and Craft Council of Ireland.
Upcoming Classes
Designed for beginners and those with some experience. During this course you will be given a hands-on introduction to etching on Copper. You will be shown how to make your own prints using a variety of techniques under the guidance of your experienced tutor.
Etching is a medium with a long and varied history and can produce prints with great detail, richness and texture. The aim of this course is to give you an idea of the possibilities of the medium and a thorough introduction to working with hard and soft grounds (line, pattern and texture) as well as Aquatints (tones).
What you will achieve by the end: You will leave with a small edition of etchings and a foundation on how to create editions of your image to share with others or adding to the growth of your printmaking and artistic practice.
Get hands-on with the art of screen printing in this full-day workshop! Learn how to design and print your own bold, two-layer poster using professional screen printing techniques. You’ll explore stencil creation, screen exposure, colour mixing, and printing gaining both creative and technical skills along the way.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with your own vibrant screenprinted designs and a solid understanding of the process.
Join established printmaker and long-time member Ivan Frew on this weekend workshop in Collagraph Printing.
Collagraphs are the printed results from a ‘collage plate’. This course will focus on painterly printmaking techniques, perfect for creating expressive, textured images with a depth of colour and variety of mark-making.
you will learn how to create professional printmaking plates using safe, inexpensive and easily obtainable materials, printed with high quality printmaking inks and archival papers. Come prepared with your sketches and inspirational images, and recreate an original work or an edition of prints to give away as presents
This is an evening course over two Tuesdays 6-9pm
