Stone Lithography Printmaking for Beginners
Join us at BPW for a two-day beginner stone lithography workshop on 17–18 October 2026, 10am–4pm.
Learn the traditional process of stone lithography, from preparing and drawing on the stone through to etching, setting up the press and producing your own limited-edition archival black-and-white prints.
No previous experience is required. Bring along images, sketches, photographs or paintings to work from, or create something from your imagination.
What you’ll learn:
Preparing and grinding a lithographic stone
Drawing with lithographic crayons and pencils
Gumming and etching
Preparing paper and setting up the press
Registration and inking
Printing your own edition
Stone lithography is a hands-on, analogue process and can be physically demanding. Aprons and gloves are provided.
