Create your own handmade Christmas cards in this festive lino printing workshop and design a block you'll be able to use year after year. Whether you're making cards for family and friends or simply looking to try a traditional printmaking technique, this workshop is a fun and creative way to get into the Christmas spirit.
The session begins with an introduction to lino printing, covering the basics of the process, examples of printed cards, and guidance on developing your own Christmas-themed design. Participants will then transfer their design onto an A6 lino block ready for carving.
The second part of the workshop focuses on carving techniques, safe tool use, and creating test prints to refine your design before the final print run.
Once your block is complete, you'll learn how to mix inks and hand-print your design onto blank greeting cards, creating a small edition of unique Christmas cards to take home. If time allows and the prints are dry, you'll also be shown how to add hand-coloured details using pens or pencils, making each card even more personal.
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a hand-carved lino block that can be reused every Christmas, along with a selection of handmade cards and the skills to continue printing at home.
All materials are provided, and no previous printmaking experience is required.
