CLEMENT MCALEER

Clement McAleer was born 1949 in Co. Tyrone. His work takes influence from the Irish coast and his travels to Europe. He completed a Foundation Course in Belfast before studying Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art, and then at the Royal College of Art in London. He was a prize winner at the John Moores Exhibition, was presented with the J. Andrew Lloyd Award. McAleer worked for a period of time in Liverpool at a studio in the Bluecoat Arts Centre, before returning to Ireland to settle in Belfast in 2003. He was made an Associate of the Royal Ulster Academy in 2006 and a full member in 2009.
