Ivan Frew was born in Ballymoney, County Antrim. He studied at Manchester Polytechnic, Staffordshire Polytechnic and at Birmingham Polytechnic. His work has featured in numerous group exhibitions in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, including: Lumina at Queen’s University, Belfast, and A5 Project at Peacock Visual Arts, Aberdeen.
